NorthLeaf Campus Cooperative Preschool Multiage Saturday Class Teacher Position starting September, 2023

Northleaf Campus Cooperative Preschool is now accepting teacher applications for its

Saturday Spanish Multiage class, which meets 9:30 am-11:30 am.
Teacher also attends the monthly board meeting and evening parent meeting.
We are looking for someone who:

 has an early childhood education background and/or experience in a preschool setting
with infants through 5 years of age.
 is a compassionate, community-oriented teacher who has anti-bias/culturally
responsive teaching skills and experience working with a diverse group of children and
parents, preferably in a cooperative classroom setting
 is fluent in Spanish and English languages, and skilled in providing Spanish language
learning in the curriculum.

El preescolar cooperativo de NorthLeaf ahora está aceptando aplicaciones de maestres para su
clase de español para edades múltiples los sábados, que se reúne de 9:30 a. m. a 11:30 a. m.
Le maestre también asiste a la reunión mensual de la junta directiva y a la reunión de padres una

noche al mes.

Estamos buscando alguien quien:

 tiene experiencia en educación infantil temprana y/o experiencia en un preescolar con
bebés hasta los 5 años de edad.
 es compasive y orientade a la comunidad que tiene habilidades de enseñanza anit-
prejuicios y culturalmente sensibles y experiencia trabajando con un grupo diverso de
niños y padres, preferiblemente en un ambiente de clase cooperativa.

Job Description

The teacher’s role in our parent cooperative program requires working closely with both the
parents and their children. The teacher provides an environment for children to grow emotionally,
intellectually, socially, and physically. The pre-school teacher provides the parents with direction
and serves as a model for working with young children. The teacher will:
• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant and anti-bias
curriculum for the children.
• Plan a variety of first-hand experiences that will enhance and encourage the development
of children.
• Establish a predictable but flexible schedule for the children that allows for a balance of
active and quiet play, and that follows best practice guidelines including incorporation of the
WA State Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
• Take responsibility for organizing materials and resources for the children’s activities.
• Provide curriculum plans and orient parents to the role of assistant teacher.
• Spend class time observing children, participating in activities with children.
• Supervise parents in the daily operation of the classroom.
• Demonstrate and give ideas for implementing curriculum activities.
• Allow parents the freedom to try their ideas in curriculum.
• Ensure that parents in the pre-three and three to five groups have the opportunity to
present a small group activity weekly.
• Work with the Instructor as a consultant to operate a high quality children’s program.
• Attend monthly board and parent meetings.
• Develop a yearly professional development plan to share with the parent education
instructor and the cooperative board.
• Attend workshops, classes, and/or observe in other programs to increase teaching skills.
• Make recommendations to the board for purchasing equipment and supplies for the
school.
• Serve as a team member, along with the Instructor and child’s parent to develop
individual goals for the child.
• Follow Health and Safety guidelines included in the Risk Management Manual.
• Submit to ADA requirements, including being able to lift and carry 35-60 lbs.
